Gosh, even the hardly Anarcho-capitalist Birmingham News editorial board favors allowing charter schools in Alabama.
While I couldn’t agree less with their main reason – Alabama schools will be more likely to get more federal dollars for education with a charter school law – I’ve got to commend them on their conclusion: why punish students to protect teachers? I mean besides political expediency. BTW, the football analogy is cute, and very appropriate to the audience.
Apparently the readers of the Birmingham News are in agreement. In an online poll 69.4% favored a law allowing charter schools in Alabama while only 30.6% were against it. (Take the poll to see the results)
